Imperial County Public Health Exterior Improvements

The Imperial County Public Health Department facility necessitated some exterior improvements including the removal and replacement of the existing exterior plaster finish at all exterior surfaces; new ADA ramps and stairs, handrails and guardrails at all entries; new window trims and replacement of existing windows glazing; new exterior lighting fixtures; and new storefront aluminum entrances. With the use of Local Public Funds, Nicklaus was selected by Imperial County Department of Public Works (ICDPW) to provide Construction Management Services with a dedicated full-time inspector at the project, supervised by our California licensed engineer.

During the pre-construction meeting, Nicklaus identified potential issues with Air Pollution Control (APC) permitting due to the sand blast process for stucco removal.  During the initial phases, Nicklaus met with Imperial County to discuss the approved submittal documents, APC District requirements, and the overall project schedule. Nicklaus prepared the pre-construction agenda to include labor compliance requirements, critical path items of work, and overall job safety requirements due the proximity to the public.

Throughout the construction of the project, the CM and On-Site inspector maintained orderly project files including daily inspection reports and photos of construction activities, submittal reviews, and similar project documentation. The On-Site Inspector also ensured that the facilities were built per plans and specifications, and that the Contractor was promoting job-site safety and public safety. Construction is complete for the project, and Nicklaus is in the process of providing a detailed Project Summary Report and project records.
