COY Thomas F. Allt Utilities Department Administration Complex

The City of Yuma hired Nicklaus Engineering, Inc. (Nicklaus) to provide architectural and engineering design services for a new 20,000 sq. ft. Utilities Department Administration Complex and Maintenance Yard.  Nicklaus served as the project architect and provided civil, geotechnical, environmental, surveying, bidding, construction administration and inspection services for the project. Nicklaus teamed up with Arrington Watkins Architects who provided their consulting expertise, specialty systems design, and quality control review throughout the course of the project. AW focused on the development of the preliminary and schematic design while Nicklaus led the development of construction documentation, bidding, and construction administration. Preliminary design included three conceptual building/site plans including different massing and elevations including various methods of constructions to accommodate the City’s needs. The City hired a contractor during the design phase to provide pre-construction services as a CMAR. Nicklaus coordinated with the CMAR during the design to adjust the design to meet the City’s construction budget.
